4m x 3m Black Barn Shed

Here is a 4.2m x 3m black barn shed made to a ridge height of 2450mm. This shed was made for the sole purpose of being a man cave where the husband of the household could escape to with his mates. The client intends to insulate and board the interior  themselves and to have a log burner installed.

 

We constructed the shed with upgraded framework (to allow for the insulation) and electrics. A breathable membrane is in between the framework and cladding, which is ex 32mm x 175mm black barn board (European Spruce) often used in barn conversions and the like.

 

The shed has single glazed windows with 2 openers (1 each side of the door). The doors are single glazed french doors that open fully with hooks and eyes to secure them. They are finished with black ornate ironmongery with lock, key and handle. The roof was finished with a single layer bitumen based backing felt which is stuck down using a gas blow torch.  The floor was 18mm ply.

 

We also provided a slab base area (the customer didn’t want concrete) and we dug up the turf and removed from site. We layed the hard core, compacted it with a wacker plate then layed the paving slabs on a sand-cement screed.
